History of Motorcycling in Northern San Joaquin & Stanislas Counties

  • Pisano Room, Hutchins Street Square 125 South Hutchins Street Lodi, CA, 95240 United States (map)

Presented by David Stuart

Join the Lodi Historical Society on Wednesday, February 25th for an exciting presentation from local historian & lifelong motorcycle advocate, David Stuart, exploring the deep roots of motorcycle culture in the northern San Joaquin Valley. Drawing from decades of research, historic photographs, and his book Motorcycling in California’s Central Valley, Stuart will trace the region’s story from the bicycle clubs of the late 1800s to the rise of early brands like Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company and Harley-Davidson Motor Company, and into the heyday of local racing, clubs, and working riders. A five-generation Valley native, longtime member and past president of the Stockton Motorcycle Club, and former track photographer at the Lodi Cycle Bowl, Stuart brings both personal experience and regional history together to highlight the riders, dealers, mechanics, police officers, racers, and clubs that built a lasting motorcycling community across San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties.

Program is free & open to the public, $5 donation encouraged for non-members.
